Linux Maemo 5 OS based smartphone "Nokia N900" unleashed in India



The Nokia N900 runs on latest version of Android - the Froyo and it also boasts of a 3.5 inch resistive touch screen and comes loaded with the Linux Maemo 5 operating system. N900 truly stands out of the crowd. It has a 3.5" touchscreen display supports 800 x 480 pixel resolution and runs on processor of ARM Cortex-A8 600 MHz, and PowerVR SGX with OpenGL ES 2.0 support.

It has an embedded superb high quality 5 megapixel camera with an autofocus feature along with a 3 x digital zoom operational with dual-LED flash. It has a two-stage capture key and assist light and also supports JPEG image formats, Carl Zeiss optics,CMOS sensor and Tessar lens. Its operating frequency is GSM EDGE 850/ 900/ 1800/ 1900, WCDMA 900/ 1700/ 2100 MHz.

Nokia N900 has 1GB of application memory and 32 GB of external storage. It also has full QWERTY keyboard, Bluetooth v2.1 including support for stereo headsets and comes with integrated FM transmitter. It browses via Maemo browser and supports Adobe Flash 9.4, and allows the user for full-screen browsing. Video recording has been made better with the support for 848 x 480 pixels WVGA and up to 25 fps with support for mp4 file format and codec of MPEG-4. Nokia N900 has an integrated A-GPS, large internal storage and fast wireless broadband, so it will surely make a good debut in the smartphone segment of mobile market.
