HTC HD mini-small smartphone review

HTC HD mini, a new small smartphone, looks rugged but is a utilitarian phone. The successor of HTC HD2, its functionality is vastly similar but it comes in a smaller form factor. Overall, build quality of HD mini is great and the soft feel protects the phone from scratches.The HD mini runs on Windows Mobile 6.5.3 with HTC's Sense UI. It is very user-friendly and its 13 "panes" are Home, People, Messages, Mail, Internet, Calendar, Stocks, Photos Videos, Music, Weather, Twitter, Footprints, and Settings panes.



HD mini's 3.2" HVGA capacitive touchscreen is bright and its touch sensitive keys with multi-touch capabilities add on to this. HTC HD mini measures a mere 103.8mm x 57.7mm x 11.7mm and weighs 110g only.

The HTC HD mini has good call quality. Users can store multiple phone numbers and email addresses, contact images. The HD mini even features HTC's contact-centric communication system, which filters all communication with a given contact down into their contact entry. SMS and MMS in HTC mini is organized into an attractive conversation view and are displayed in the HTC Sense 'Messages' pane. Email POP and IMAP accounts are also supported.

The HTC HD mini features a 5 megapixel autofocus camera lacking a LED flash so operates well in daylight only. It can also shoots video at VGA resolution at 30fps speed, and saves them as MP4 files.

It features Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, USB 2.0, and GPS. The Bluetooth connection can be used to transfer files between the HD mini and another phone or computer. Its Opera Mobile 9.7 browser is also great and HSPA (900/2100MHz) connection offers up to 7.2Mbps download speeds and up to 2Mbps upload speeds. The HTC HD mini has 512MB of internal storage expandable up to 32GB with a microSD card. Its 1200mAh battery offers around 2 days of power.
